About

Welcome to Take A Moment.

It’s a space for you to take a moment from life’s manic ways and exhale, reflect, relax, slow down.

At the start of 2014 I realised I was living the fast-paced Sydney city life without much time for pausing. I decided it was time to “take a moment”, and I took off on a 4 month sabbatical from work; to go and explore the world and open my mind and heart again to new spaces. I slowed down, began this blog, and wrote as I travelled, eventually finding myself living in the gentle green of Somerset, South West England.

Having worked as a registered Social Worker for over 20 years, I am now also a practitioner of Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes (CWTP), applying words for wellbeing. I have completed a Masters in CWTP through Metanoia Institute. I am a member of Lapidus International and my practice is fully insured and follows the Lapidus International Ethical Code: https://www.lapidus.org.uk/about/lapidus-ethical-code

To hear an interview with me about CWTP:

I am forever curious about our creative-soul-body connections, and love exploring the world with others through travel, stories, words, connection and mindfulness. I also really like tea.

A new website is coming soon, which will include details on writing for wellbeing workshops, events, and services on offer. Meanwhile, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly for news on any upcoming events.

My Masters Dissertation is also available on request, which combined the technique of Focusing with creative writing to understand life events, a narrative exploration of how tapping into the body’s senses can influence writing and how we view our life stories.

Please enjoy, engage, exhale and breathe more deeply for a moment.

  1. Ssoooo relate to the idea of needing time out from a fast paced Sydney life! I look forward to reading about your experiences and reflections in the new spaces of your mind. (There’s a song in that!)
